UV resin supply list: must haves to get started

Here is an easy guide to getting the supplies you need to begin making resin jewelry.

Supply list

  • UV resin, hard type
  • UV flashlight or nail lamp (9 watt or higher)
  • Silicone mold (clear so that the light can cure through the mold)

With the 3 items above, you can begin to create. To add more fun, here are some basic supplies that will add to your project.

  • glitter
  • mica powder
  • mix ins of your choice (clay slices, shells, crushed glass, etc.

The following list just makes things all around easier.

  • Popsicle sticks, mixing sticks of some type, toothpicks
  • Paint pallet to mix the resin with mica powder, glitter, etc.
  • table covering / paper towels

Bezels – if you are working with open back bezels, the same supplies will be fine with the addition of resin tape to apply to the back of the bezel to keep the resin from spilling out before it is cured.

It can’t get any easier than this. The uv resin is great for pendants and jewelry because of its ability to be used directly from the bottle. I also enjoy the immediate satisfaction of curing the resin and being able to remove it from the mold right away.
